Tanaka Mhishi is a writer, ​researcher and performer. His ​work deals with issues ​surrounding masculinity, trauma ​and healing for audiences of all ​ages. With a career spanning ​multiple forms and industries, ​these are some of the places ​you might have encountered ​him over the past ten years.



  • Writing and performing Boys Don’t, an OFFIE ​nominated show for ages 8-12 about the transition to ​secondary school and the masculinities we find there.


  • Supporting journalists at national newspapers and ​survivors of sexual violence to work together on more ​nuanced content of some of our most difficult issues.


  • Delivering theatre-based training in rural South Africa ​to help men and women come together to tackle ​violence against women and girls.
